April is the month for celebrating the proper arrival of spring and Britain is busy with lots of festivals, many of which go back centuries. But Great Britain is an island that loves small village festivals, fetes and fairs, and this month I wanted to go to one of these, just over the border into West Yorkshire, to see if I could find one.
The cuckoo festival in Marsden celebrates the traditional arrival of the cuckoo within the Colne Valley, a sure sign that spring has truly arrived.
With a giant cuckoo puppet, a brass band, and lots of dancing groups in wonderful costume, is this one the perfect little family-friendly festival of them all?
