Tojinbo is a sea cliff located in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, and is designated as a special protection area in Echizen-Kaga Kaigan National Park. The 25-meter vertical cliff is made up of columnar joints of pyroxene andesite, and is designated as a national natural monument as it is one of only three places in the world with such a precious geological feature. The name of the area is derived from Tojinbo, a monk who was pushed off the cliffs because of a grudge against him.
