Echizen Ono Castle in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture, was built by Nagachika Kanamori, who was given the land by Nobunaga Oda, and the castle town can be seen from the 249-meter-high Kameyama. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, the castle is popular as a “castle in the sky” floating in a sea of clouds under certain weather conditions. Ono City is blessed with abundant spring water and is also famous for its many springs, including “Ooshimizu,” one of the 100 best springs in Japan.
