Biosensor could speed infection treatments

Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a way to measure the growth and drug susceptibility of individual bacterial cells without the use of a microscope. Instead of waiting days for culture results, clinicians will be able to use the biosensor to determine in minutes the antibiotic best able to treat the infection.
