Kleine Levin syndrome
Kleine Levin syndrome (KLS), often termed recurrent hypersomnia, is a rare sleep disease characterized by recurring episodes of severe hypersomnia associated with cognitive and behavioral problems such as disorientation, derealization, apathy, compulsive eating, and hypersexuality. Kleine Levin syndrome episodes extend a few days to several weeks and are followed by weeks or months of regular sleep and behavior. Kleine Levin syndrome is characterized as a central disorder of hypersomnolence; other diseases in this category include narcolepsy type 1 and type 2 and idiopathic hypersomnia.
