Durrës or Durres is the Ancient Greek city of Dyrrhachion. During the Middle Ages the city was known as Durazzo by the Venetians. Durrës is a coastal city in the North of Albania (Shqipëria). The city has a population of 175,000. Durres is particularly known for having the largest Roman amphitheatre of the Balkans. Some other highlights are the Mosaics at a Basilica within the Amphitheatre, the Albanian College, the Venetian Tower, the Ancient Walls, the Volga Promenade, the Bridge with the Pier, the Church of Saint Asti and Apostle Paul and the Iliria Square.
