This time, I went for a walk around Pontocho, which is home to some of Kyoto's most atmospheric alley.
Shijo-dori to Sanjo-dori, one block west of the Kamogawa River, is a tiny alley. On both sides of the alley, restaurants provide a variety of dining alternatives, ranging from economical yakitori to traditional and modern Kyoto cuisine, international cuisine, and very upscale businesses that demand the appropriate connections and a strong wallet.
