The Shibata Family Garden (Gan Tang En or Gan Tang Garden) is located in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture, and was created in 1662, after the Shibata family established a residence in Ichinowa. The garden is a pond and fountain garden that incorporates part of the moat, and is characterized by the artificial hill, the waterfall stone arrangement, and the earthen bridge to the central island. The shoin (drawing room) was built in the sukiya style and was used as a resting place for the feudal lord Sakai. The Tsuru-no-Ma offers a beautiful view of Mt. Restoration work began in FY2015 and will be completed in 2023. The garden combines historical value and natural beauty.
