After watching a bunch of video promotions online, we decided to go and see for ourselves what it was like.
You don't need to make an appointment in advance for the event, just buy a ticket to the Temple of Heaven and enter.
What the Internet says about being able to travel to Saudi Arabia without leaving Beijing is pure exaggeration. There are still many people going there on weekdays. There are many aunts rushing to take pictures at the photo spots. The scene is sometimes very chaotic. There are long queues at the experience booths. The roads are very narrow and often blocked. The people who maintain order have been urging people to go faster and not to stay. Their attitude is relatively cold and hard. But I can understand that there are too many people and they are tired and annoyed after shouting for a whole day. The Saudi guys and girls who are responsible for taking photos are very dedicated. They take photos with all kinds of people with professional smiles.
Free food and performances are uncertain. It depends on your luck. If you have to experience it, try to wait there as much as possible. We waited for more than an hour after we finished shopping before experiencing it.
The conclusion is: if you don't go with too much hope, you won't feel too disappointed. It's just right to experience it when you go to the Temple of Heaven. If you go there specifically, it's a little bit not worth it.
