Not a usual response to a loss
Often found in people who are emotionally attached to the deceased or have few family and friends to rely on
People with mental health conditions are more susceptible
Strong yearning to be with the deceased
Feeling intense loneliness and that life is meaningless without the deceased
Unable to sleep, have suicidal thoughts and substance abuse
Overcome complicated grief by reaching out to family, friends, religious community or healthcare professionals who can provide a listening ear or assist in practical matters
